My Hero Academia 僕 ぼく のヒーローアカデミア Boku no Hīrō Akademia? is a manga written and illustrated by Kohei Horikoshi and is published in Weekly Shonen Jump. The first chapter was published on July 7, 2014, in issue 32, 2014 of Weekly Shonen Jump. History Before the series was published in Weekly Shonen Jump, Kohei Horikoshi tested My Hero Academia ideas in a One-Shot called "My Hero" that was published within Akamaru Jump in Winter 2008. After having creating two series in Weekly Shonen Jump that were each eventually cancelled, Oumagadoki Zoo which ran for five volumes from 2010-2011, and Barrage which ran for two volumes in 2012, Horikoshi felt he was out of ideas. When he was given the opportunity for a third series, he decided to revisit the old "My Hero" one-shot, which became the inspiration for the series. Other inspirations would be American films and comics, such as Star Wars, Spider-Man, and X-Men, as well as shonen manga like Naruto, Dragon Ball, Ultraman, and Kamen Rider. Development on the series started in June 2013 before its first chapter was officially released a year later in July 2014. On January 26, 2015, Viz Media announced that starting on February 9, 2015 of that year, they would officially translate the series into English for release in the Viz Shonen Jump. On August 7, 2018, My Hero Academia had sold over 16 million copies. December 4, 2018 brought another reprint of Volumes 1-20 bringing about 18 million more copies into circulation.[1] By December 6, 2019, the series had a cumulative 26 million copies in circulation.[2] By January 2022, the series has achieved over 65 million copies in circulation worldwide. Plot People are not born equal, a realization that four-year-old Izuku Midoriya faced when bullied by his classmates who had unique special powers. Izuku was one of the rare cases where he was born with absolutely no unique powers. This did not stop Izuku from pursuing his dream, a dream of becoming a great hero like the legendary All Might. To become the great hero he hopelessly wants to become, he will now join the ranks of one of the highest rated "Hero Academies" in the country High School. With the help of his idol All Might, will he be able to claim the ranks and become a true hero? Style The manga takes various cues and styling from American comics. It also breaks away from the idea of the battle manga main protagonist cliché who is normally very powerful and wild from the start. Description From VizYears have passed since Naruto and Sasuke teamed up to defeat Kaguya, the progenitor of chakra and the greatest threat the ninja world has ever faced. Times are now peaceful and the new generation of shinobi has not experienced the same hardships as its parents. Perhaps that is why Boruto would rather play video games than train. But it falls victim to that dumb trope where they author feels like they have to always be raising the stakes. Just like Naruto. You’ll have this fun story about a kid learning to fight and all of his school buddies and they encounter challenges and grow and THEN OH MY GOD IT’S THE GREATEST EVIL AND THE WORLD IS BLOWED UP…. Seriously, dudes. If you feel the urge to blow up every major world city and rack up a body-count in the millions, just so we know that this time it’s finally the really important fight… lay off the Adderall, go have a nap, and think about other ways to end a story that feel more satisfying and organic. I still remember the first time I read the forest training arc, and how excited I got with every chapter. It's a really nice memory....It has been a long time since the series has been able to capture that level of hype for me. At this point I'm just reading new chapters on autopilot. It's a damn shame because the author was able to maintain a pretty decent story quality for a long time before dropping off. When you start hoping for a manga to end quickly with every chapter, you know it's not going to come back to that level any more. I just hope the ending isn't too bad. It's like the pacing slowed down, it used to be hype. I dropped this manga once and came back to it because a certain character finally had character development and has the most character development despite not being the main character but it feels like it sometimes. Gave an apology finally but then it's hard to tell if they really want to change or not. But then you realize at this point it doesn't matter our main three are the only ones who need the spotlight to develop. Those characters being Mi, Ka, and Oc not Mr art is good as always so that's never a mouse over to view So after Shigiraki has his first direct battle with DEKU the story goes down hill. The it around the 300s in chapter rangeDEKU starts going rogue and all that Then every thing goes well when Ururaka does her little speech to get her DEKU points and that wraps up that edgy ark. The blonde sparkly traitor who was found by chance but he admitted so much you personality did a 180 despite him bragging about was forgiven so easily I didn't expect torture or any thing but a forgiveness cliche has never made me want to throw up so badly. I think Batman would be more reasonable. Then you have the Toga nonsense that happened near recently. Was not handled all that well or rather the story could have gone without it. We're constantly reminded of Ururaka's feelings but it doesn't go any where like every other time for the story in Chapter 348. It feels like a drag to wait for chapters every week so I'll wait a month or two and hope the mess I saw cleans itself up. Despite what I said though there is at least one character I do like and keep reading for them. 3/23/22... Last updated on March 22nd, 2022, 1130pm Derivative but a really good entry in the genre. What's most important in these kinda mangas is that it gives you a universe you can fantasy existing in and we have that here. I really like superheroes, however we all know the flaws about them in comics and sadly is already happening mouse over to viewExtra Power Ups, flashbacks with plot holes, foreseeable turns of events, nonsense drama, jokes in bad moments, fillers and forced extension of story. The bad taste I feel, is like when you love the first movie and the sequel make you want to forget about got a good oneshot, a nice prequel, and great anime, I gonna give a hold and read again later, hoping for a great future or nice conclusion after this chaos. In most cases I like the manga better than the anime. Here, however, I find the anime better and, exceptionally, the dub better than the original version. If I had to give reasons, then I perceive more feelings in the anime than in the manga. In some places the Manga is "choppy". In conclusion the emotions/story aren´t conveyed flawless. Also the Anime is flashy and suits the Heroes very well!Despite the constant introduction of quirks and stuff xPlz enjoy watching! 3 It's really a typical shounen manga. A boy with a huge big dream yet not perfect suddenly get a power because of his "NOT GIVING UP" attitude. Reminds me of Naruto, except instead of ninja, it's heroes. Not bad actually, I like the character developments and the art too. It is indeed a typical shounen manga, but meh... I these characters, so will keep reading. After the Eri's arc I actually thought the author previous work is Hitman reborn but I was wrong, the first 100 chapter was good the battle is exciting but then as it drag it grow so similar to hitman reborn, where the hero are just getting random power up instead of actually using what they currently have, the battle also choreographed people suddenly leave behind to stall for no damn reason, people charging ahead even thou there's really no need to, most of the character changed from actual human behavior to just some happy go lucky side hope the author could change direction, and go back to what it used to be but it probably wont happen.... Last updated on September 23rd, 2018, 935am A typical shounen manga with a main lead that spits out lecture here and there, brainwashs everyone he encounters and wins the world by the classic "never give up" spirit. The other characters are also quite bland. Maybe except for Tokoyami and his quirk "dark shadow" - pretty unique. To sum it up, it's the same old material but the author add some extra patches to make it looks more logical, less obvious bias/shallow than our previous shounen manga. Midoriya is like a mix of Gon HxH and Tsuna KHR - unsurprisingly I don't like them both. Anyway, super natural is always fun to watch, so the manga is pretty refreshing at the moment, but it's just that. I don't think I will remember much about the series once it ended. To be honest i was born with no skills and I have seen bunch of people who are perfect at everything they do even if they had school they would not put any effort and they would be perfect at it, well this manga made me feel like I can do anything, is something weird but they only got one quirk and they need to train it so it becomes an asset for when they become a hero. You might think DBZ, Naruto, one piece are the masters over there and I won't say no to them, I like the old school too, but i think if a manga makes you feel something then it means the author did a good job.
